Among these discoveries are certain drugs that act as a vaccine, but not in the traditional sense of the word. These are drugs with a similar role.

Researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine in California say they have tested a vaccine on mice with cancer cells. The results obtained show the destruction of tumors and the disappearance of metastases in animals. It is clearly a special invention!

How does the cancer tumor vaccine work?

The vaccine goes directly to the site of the tumor and contains among its ingredients an immunostimulant that helps speed up the body’s defensive processes, in the sense of reducing tumors inside. This stops the abnormal reproduction of cancer cells.

In the composition of this vaccine we find two main ingredients:

  1. a DNA fragment called CpG
  2. an antibody against OX40 cells

The mixture of these ingredients helped to cure cancer in 87 of the 90 animals tested, and in the remaining 3 cases an additional dose was required which reduced the tumors.

Ronald Levy, a Stanford University researcher, expressed optimism about the results of the animal tests. In most cases, the tumors disappeared. Breast tumors, melanomas and cases of lymphatic cancer were treated.

The effects of the vaccine in humans

This study is in the animal testing stage, the vaccine has not yet been tested in humans. However, researchers are optimistic about the effects in humans, especially if the vaccine is associated with more aggressive treatments, such as chemotherapy.

  • In addition, the results appear much faster in the case of tests performed on mice, this vaccine having the expected results after only 10 days of use.

  • The effects of the vaccine are many. In addition to attacking cancerous tumors, the vaccine helps T cells (immune system cells) identify and destroy tumors.

Let’s hope that in the near future this treatment will receive the green light to perform tests on people. The good news is that the research lab has already been given permission to create one of the antibodies for tests to be performed on patients with cancerous tumors.
