How to clean with baking soda

• Pipe cleaning:  Special products for unclogging pipes that are on the market are very dangerous. They should be used in certain doses, avoiding inhalation or ingestion. An excellent option for cleaning the pipes is to pour the baking soda directly into the drain and add vinegar. Let the composition stand for at least 15 minutes. You will see how bubbles form as a result of the reaction between the two elements. Rinse at the end with clean warm water.

• Cleaning toys: Children’s objects get dirty quickly and can contain countless bacteria and viruses. To protect children from diseases caused by contact with their toys, an excellent solution is to immerse them in a bowl with a mixture of 4 tablespoons of baking soda and 4 liters of water (leave in this solution overnight and wash in the morning ). If the objects are very dirty, use a sponge or brush to clean them.

• Healthy fabric conditioner:  The fabric conditioner that is sold in stores gives clothes a fragrant smell. But it creates a layer of grease on the fibers of the materials to compensate for the action of soap or detergent. Use a cup of baking soda to wash clothes in an environmentally friendly way. Or you can add it as a conditioner directly in the washing machine. Remember that baking soda is not a detergent!
• Eliminating unpleasant odors: One of the qualities of baking soda is that it helps neutralize organic odors (such as animal odor, food odor or perspiration). It can be used to eliminate the smell of feet or shoes, the smell of the laundry basket, the dog’s pillow, the cat’s litter, the refrigerator, etc. But baking soda has no effect on synthetic odors, such as perfumes, tobacco or air fresheners.

Other tricks

• Carpet cleaning: Spread a generous amount of baking soda on the carpet. Leave it like this all night. In the morning, clean it with a vacuum cleaner or broom. This is a great way to get rid of dog or cat odors and stains from food or drink. The car mats can also be cleaned.
• Oven cleaning:  Just sprinkle water inside, and then cover the surface with a few tablespoons of baking soda. Close the oven door and let it sit like that all night. If the oven is not very dirty, the next day it will shine. If the stains are older, it is necessary to rub the surface with a damp cloth with soap and water.
